Editor's Review of Gimp
GIMP is a professional digital photo editor and is the open source answer to Adobe Photoshop. GIMP has much of the same functionality that Photoshop has, ranging from being used as a simple paint program, a photo retouching program, an image renderer, or an image format converter.
If you don't want to pay the high price for Photoshop, GIMP is a great alternative with virtually the same functionality.
Being open source, GIMP was built to accept plug-ins and extensions that is designed to do just about anything. If you are looking to do any image manipulation and you can't afford the price tag of most image editing software applications, GIMP gives you the same features without the cost.
Features:
- Customizable Interface
- Photo Enhancement
- Digital Retouching
- Supported file formats: JPEG (JFIF), GIF, PNG, TIFF and special use formats such as multi-resolution and multi-color-depth Windows icon files .PEG(JFIF).
About Gimp:
GIMP is open source software and is made freely availble for personal use. Source code and license information for GIMP can be found at the GIMP Project Page.
